Jay Winkeler

Leidos Inc.

Jay received a B.S. in Statistics and a Master’s in Industrial and Systems Engineering, both from Virginia Tech.  He started his career with the Central Intelligence Agency, and spent 15 years at TRW before joining Lockheed Martin/Leidos in 2000.  At Leidos, he rose to the rank of Vice President of the Enforcement and Public Safety Solutions Division.  He was responsible for ensuring the successful execution of a variety of information technology and services programs for the United States Department of Homeland Security.  Prior to forming the Enforcement and Public Safety Solutions Division, Jay led business units focused on the United States Department of Justice and the Intelligence Community.  Jay has worked extensively with the College of Engineering, mentoring student design teams in the Joseph F. Ware Lab, and he routinely serves as a guest lecturer on the topics of Business Ethics, Engineering Ethics and Systems Engineering. Recently, Jay took a position at Virginia Tech as Executive Director of the Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics (CBIA). (5 year term; ending spring 2020)
