Biography
Wenqi Shen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Information Technology at the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. She received her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Purdue University. Her research interests include understanding and modeling user behavior and decision-making in online virtual communities, social media analytics, user-generated and AI-generated content, the economics of IT, AI in healthcare, and firm information security. Her research has been published in premier information systems journals such as Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, among others. Previously, she held a position at Miami University and worked in the area of payment data security. She is an associate editor for the Information Technology and Management journal and a member of the editorial review board for the Decision Sciences Journal and Journal of Management Information Systems. Additionally, she has served as mini-track chair and associate editor for leading IS conferences, including HICSS, ICIS, and PACIS, and has been on the program committee for CIST and CSWIM for multiple years. She has also served as the Vice President of the Social Media Analytics section at INFORMS and is a senior member of INFORMS. She is a faculty affiliate of the Center for the Future Work Places and Practices at Virginia Tech.
