Tuition & Financial Aid

Federal financial aid comes in the form of loans (that you need to repay) and grants. Scholarships may help you make pursuing the BIT-Cyber program more affordable. Unlike a loan, you won’t need to repay it if you accept the terms. To apply for a cybersecurity scholarship, you need to qualify. Then if you are eligible, you fill out an application. Providers also look for academic excellence and interest in national security. You often submit transcripts that show you meet a certain GPA and/or have SAT/ACT scores within an accepted range.

Many also base their decisions on financial need. This means you must show some family income tax information and file a FAFSA. Apart from this, many scholarship providers want to know about you and your goals. You may need to write an essay on a prompted question, provide references, and have an up-to-date current resume.

Program Costs and Financial Aid

Information about Virginia Tech's tuition and fees can be found on the VT Bursar’s page. These costs are set by the Virginia Tech Board of Governors on an annual basis.

Virginia Tech and the Pamplin College of Business offer a number of scholarships. Information about scholarships and financial aid can be located on the page of the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid.  To be considered for scholarships, students transferring to Virginia Tech in the fall should submit their General Scholarship Application by January (see the wesbite for exact date). To be considered for financial aid, students should submit their FAFSA, as soon as it becomes available (see the website). It may also be necessary to update your previous FAFSA to include Virginia Tech. Finally, Virginia students planning to transfer to Virginia Tech in the semester following graduation with an associate’s degree, may be eligible for the Two-Year College Transfer Grant.
