Biography

Dr. G. Alan Wang is the Arthur Andersen Co., Alumni Professor in Business Information Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University, and a B.E. in Industrial Management & Engineering from Tianjin University. He teaches advanced business applications and web-based decision support systems. He was a past winner of Pamplin Outstanding Faculty in Doctoral Education Award. Students voted him as the Favorite Faculty for Self-Understanding and Integrity in 2018.

His research interests, such as data and text mining, generative AI, knowledge management and discovery, quality management, and service management, cover various application areas in social media analytics, business intelligence, managerial decision support, engineering, security informatics, and healthcare informatics. Following the design science research methodology, his work aims to create better solutions for real-world problems, ultimately making a positive impact on the world. He has published over 100 refereed articles, including those appearing in prestigious academic journals, such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, Tourism Management, and Decision Support Systems. Dr. Wang is a member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and INFORMS.
