September 13, 2023
Faculty members gathered at the Inn at Virginia Tech over the course of two days for the BIT Faculty Retreat on August 17-18, 2023.
Guest speaker presentations, workshops, and team building activities highlighted the importance of effective communication and collaboration to help BIT faculty members meet their goals for the year ahead.
Here are some snippets from this year’s BIT retreat:
Dr. Quinton Nottingham welcoming everyone back for the new academic year:
Henry Yampolsky, author, TEDx speaker, and Assistant Director for Education, Outreach, and Conflict Resolution for the Office for Equity and Accessibility at Virginia Tech speaking to faculty on “Building Effective & Inclusive Teams”:
The new Richard E. Sorensen Chair and Dean of Pamplin College of Business, Shaonee Sarker, shared her vision for Pamplin College of Business with BIT faculty:
Tony Gambill, Founder and CEO of ClearView Leadership, led a series of individual and group team building activities which encouraged faculty to think about their priorities for the next academic year for the BIT Department and beyond.

The retreat was also filled with plenty of socializing during the BIT Social where the BIT Departmental Awards were presented over dinner at The Inn at Virginia Tech.
Thank you to all our BIT faculty members for making it to the BIT Retreat this year and to all our guest speakers who made this event a truly collaborative and inspiring event!
